I took this chance shot whilst visiting the Dutse Alhaji market.

The photo is my response to this week’s WordPress weekly photo challenge, this week’s theme New Horizon, challenged us to show something that we wanted to achieve. I decided to include this shot not to show what I wanted to achieve but to reflect on what the young man in the photo might achieve. What thoughts passed through his mind, as he went about his business, as he looked back at me as I snatched the shot.

It made me reflect on why we take photos, and the degree of engagement we may or may not have with our subject. Photos are one way we never forget the experiences we have. I have been lucky, my work has taken me to many varied places in our world. I hope to capture more of life here on nigeriastreets, hope to learn more, expand my own horizons and share what I find, here on these pages.
